Light drizzle is expected through the morning, with temperatures rising to 0.5℃ by 9 AM. However, winds will strengthen to 5.55 m/s, with gusts reaching 19.5 m/s. Under these conditions, the wind chill will be significant, posing a high risk of hypothermia. Particular caution is advised in areas like the Lock Garden, where wet rocks, lingering snow, and strong winds can lead to loss of balance. Visibility is 9.1km, but drizzle could rapidly reduce visibility and increase the risk of getting lost in dense fog. The significant 11.4℃ temperature difference from the base means winter-level gear is essential as you ascend. Layering must include a quick-drying base, an insulating mid-layer (fleece or light down), and a waterproof-breathable shell. Gloves and a warm hat are also critical.

Snow depth is 78cm. The morning drizzle and near-freezing temperatures will make the remaining snow wet and slippery. Expect a mix of exposed rock, wet snow, and potentially icy patches. Tomuraushi is a demanding long-distance route, known for sudden weather changes, as tragically demonstrated in the 2009 accident. Adequate time management and the readiness to turn back are crucial for safe travel.
