Kuju Mountains will experience mild and stable weather conditions throughout the day. Current summit conditions are mostly clear with a temperature of 11.6°C, feeling like 10.3°C, making for a comfortable ascent. Temperatures are expected to rise, reaching up to 17.4°C by 3 PM. There is a 4.8°C temperature difference between the summit and the base, necessitating appropriate gear for the elevation change. Winds will remain light all day, with gusts not exceeding 7.2 m/s, posing no hindrance to movement. This period marks the blooming season of Miyama Kirishima azaleas, offering beautiful scenery along with fresh greenery, especially on routes like the Makino-to Pass leading towards Mt. Kuju.

Ground conditions are predominantly dry, with exposed rocky terrain, due to no precipitation and high temperatures. Some areas in shade or wetlands might be damp, but significant mud is not expected. Neither crampons nor chain spikes are required. For layering, a quick-dry base layer T-shirt, a thin fleece or long-sleeved shirt as a mid-layer, and a lightweight wind shell as an outer layer are appropriate. An additional mid-layer is advisable for breaks or cooler morning/evening hours.

The risks of thunderstorms, strong winds, and hypothermia are very low today. Visibility is excellent, exceeding 20km, which minimizes the concern for getting lost in fog. However, given the complex terrain of this volcanic range, always verify your position with a map, compass, and GPS. While the night will be clear, temperatures will drop to around 10°C, so if extending activities into the evening, ensure adequate cold weather gear.
