Temperatures are expected to remain around this level during the day, but light drizzle will begin around 3 PM, with temperatures dropping to 8.4 degrees Celsius. Visibility is currently 5 km, but it is likely to deteriorate along the Mount Rausu ridge and the Shiretoko Mountain Range Traverse route as the drizzle starts. Humid air from the sea can easily cause sudden weather changes, so caution is advised.

While there is no snow cover reported, it is possible that snow patches remain in shaded areas and valleys of Mount Rausu at this time of year. The ground will become slippery with the drizzle, so extreme caution is required when traversing any remaining snowfields. Carrying microspikes is recommended as a precaution. The rocky sections of the Iwaobetsu Course will also become slick with rain, demanding careful footing.

Always carry an insulating down jacket for breaks or emergencies. As this is bear habitat, bear spray and proper bear precautions, including a bear canister, are mandatory. Nighttime travel should be avoided.
