The temperature is 0.6 degrees Celsius, feeling like -2.5 degrees Celsius, indicating a chilly environment. There's an 8.2-degree Celsius temperature difference from the base, so expect colder conditions as you ascend. While temporary clear skies are forecast for midday, it will revert to partly cloudy in the afternoon, with increasing precipitation probability towards evening.

The current snow depth is 74cm. The Daisekkei (Great Snow Valley) is in its typical spring snow condition, meaning the snow will soften with daytime warming, increasing the risk of post-holing and slipping. Route finding will be particularly challenging under limited visibility, so extreme caution is required when traversing the Daisekkei. Be vigilant for rockfall.

To cope with the felt temperature of -2.5 degrees Celsius, wear a wicking base layer, a fleece or light down mid-layer, and a waterproof-breathable shell as an outer layer. Gloves and a warm hat are essential. Light crampons or microspikes and an ice axe are necessary. Due to poor visibility, carry a map, compass, and GPS.
