地面は積雪がなくドライコンディションが続く。山頂台地の広大な湿原や池塘周りの木道はウェットや泥濘箇所もあるため、足元には注意が必要だ。祓川コースや小赤沢コースも快適に登高できるだろう。視程20km以上と良好で、台地での濃霧道迷いのリスクは低いが、広大な湿原では木道外への踏み込みは厳禁だ。
レイヤリングは吸汗速乾ベースにフリースなどのミッドレイヤー、風を防ぐアウターは必須だ。朝晩の冷え込みに備えダウンジャケット等も携行したい。行動中は暑くなるため、こまめな脱ぎ着で体温を調整すること。雨具は万一の備えとして必ず携行する。アイゼンやチェーンスパイクは不要だ。突風も最大6.7m/sと行動に支障はない。
夜間は山頂で4℃台、未明には3℃台まで冷え込む。宿泊を伴う場合は十分な防寒対策を。日中の穏やかな気象は夕方まで続くが、日没後の行動は避けたい。

Winds are calm and visibility is excellent. Temperatures are expected to rise to the 13°C range on the summit during the day, making for a mild day. The chance of precipitation is low, and the risk of thunderstorms is minimal.
The ground is dry with no snow cover. However, parts of the extensive wetlands on the summit plateau, particularly around the Iketo (ponds) and Ohanabatake (flower fields), may be wet or muddy along the wooden boardwalks. The Haraigawa Course and Koakazawa Course should be comfortable for ascent. With visibility exceeding 20km, the risk of getting lost in dense fog on the plateau is low, but strictly adhere to the rule of staying on the wooden boardwalks within the vast wetlands.

新潟県と長野県の県境に位置する標高2,145mの百名山。山頂部に広がる「苗場（なえば）」と呼ばれる広大な高層湿原が独特の山容を生み出している、信越国境の名峰。
