While winds are calm this morning, they are expected to strengthen in the afternoon. Around noon, gusts exceeding 15 m/s are possible near the summit, which could drop the perceived temperature below freezing. Those using the New Route (Shindo) along the ridge must be prepared for strong winds with appropriate windproof layers.

Ground conditions are generally dry due to no precipitation. However, the Old Route (Kyudo) river sections, particularly around the continuous waterfalls, will have abundant water flow, leading to slippery rocks and muddy areas, increasing the risk of falls. Extreme caution is advised on these sections. Crampons or microspikes are not necessary, but full windproof and waterproof rain gear is essential. A fleece or light down jacket should also be carried for warmth during breaks or in windy spots to prevent hypothermia.

Mount Shari is a known habitat for Hokkaido brown bears (Higuma), so bear bells and bear spray are mandatory equipment for any activity in forested or riverside areas. Although no significant alerts were detected by the automated risk assessment, be vigilant for rapid drops in perceived temperature due to afternoon gusts. To prevent hypothermia, keep breaks short and consume snacks frequently. Conditions will clear up by evening, but temperatures will drop further, making it advisable to complete your descent before sunset.
