Mount Meakan starts the day cloudy but is expected to clear to partly sunny and eventually clear skies by afternoon and evening. However, the current summit feels like -0.6℃, and apparent temperatures are forecast to drop further, reaching below -5℃ tonight. The ground is dry with no snow cover, but strong winds will persist.

Winds are predicted to strengthen from afternoon into night, with gusts potentially exceeding 15 m/s, and over 20 m/s by midnight. This poses a significant risk of losing balance and falling on the exposed scree slopes near the summit and crater rim. As an active volcano, Mount Meakan's fumarole areas require vigilance; with winds consistently from the SW to SSW, avoid entering downwind zones to minimize exposure to sulfur gas.

Due to the low apparent temperatures and strong winds, robust cold weather gear is essential. Wear a wicking base layer, a fleece or light down mid-layer, and a windproof hard shell jacket. Gloves and a warm hat are also critical. While precipitation is not expected, carry rain gear for wind protection.

Though the night will be clear, apparent temperatures will drop significantly, increasing the risk of hypothermia. Avoid activity after sunset if possible, and for any planned night activity, ensure ample cold weather gear and a headlamp are carried, refraining from pushing limits.
